As explained in the Frequently Asked Questions, the homeowners insurance policy scoring — RU InsureScore — uses three guiding principles to identify the most important terms of the policies for consumers and to weight them. The three principles are:
- How frequently does a loss covered by a particular term arise, and how large are the average losses?
- How much do the terms vary among policies?
- What kinds of coverage do policyholders reasonably expect?
The following tables show the relative weights of the kinds of policy terms evaluated, first as to the general types of coverage (Property coverage and Liability coverage), and then as to the elements of property coverage (Things the insurance covers, Risks the insurance covers, and What the insurance pays, with subcategories).
